The Golf Buddy Has Your Back

Golf Buddy Pro
The Golf Buddy golf GPS is a very popular brand that comes in at least three models. The models we will be looking at are the Golf Buddy Pro, the Golf Buddy Tour and The Golf Buddy World Platinum. The Golf Buddy series is manufactured by the Decca International Corporation.
The Golf Buddy Pro
Let’s start with the golf Buddy Pro. Its features include:
- GPS capabilities
- automatic course and hole recognition
- dynamic green view, but not an actual view of the entire course
- monochrome screen
- waterproof construction
The golf Buddy Pro is a rangefinder which helps you find the distances to the green, as well as any hazards which might get in the way. It will also keep score. It comes preloaded with “all available” North American golf courses. I will provide a link to user reviews, but two of the main problems with this unit are, the range tends to be off by a number of yards, and if your local golf course is not included in the “all available North American golf courses”, there does seem to be some difficulty in getting any customer service solution to the problem. The Golf Buddy Tour
The Golf Buddy Tour as many of the same features as the Golf Buddy Pro, however users have reported that the range accuracy seems to be far better. It will store as many as 20,000 golf courses and 1000 scores. It will warn you of traps and hazards and give you the distances in order to help you avoid them. It also has a bright display and is easy to read.
The main difficulty reported by users seem to stem from customer service problems rather than an actual problem with the unit. However, I cannot stress enough the importance of actually looking what real users have said, so please check out the user reviews.
The Golf Buddy World Platinum
The Golf Buddy World Platinum GPS Rangefinder is Golf Buddy’s “flagship model”. The features in this model include:
- rangefinder with automatic course and hold recognition, as in the other models
- it comes with 40,000 courses installed
- it comes with a high resolution color touchscreen display
- you can track the scores of four players
- it’ll calculate your distance on each stroke
- it is both shock and water resistant
- is powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery
This model does everything that the other two models do only a little better. It does have the full view of each hole, but on some courses you actually need to update the unit by your computer first, otherwise you only get the green view with distances displayed. This is not actually hard to, but you might find some complaining of this, only because they didn’t know what to do.
Evidently the battery life tends to fade after 24 holes or so, so you should be aware of this point if you plan to do 36 or more holes. If you have big fingers you might find the touch screen and little bit difficult to navigate. Again I highly recommend reading both the good and bad user reviews, before making any decision on actual purchase of any golf GPS. I hope this is helpful, and again please read the user reviews: Golf Buddy Tour Reviews , Golf Buddy World Platinum Reviews .
Again look at both the good and the bad and see if the gps is what you want.
